Our Story

A Hollywood original since 1982.

In 1982, our family opened Falafel Arax on a quiet corner of Hollywood — the very first Middle Eastern sandwich house in the neighborhood. We came with little more than our grandmother's recipes, a hand grinder for the fava and garbanzo beans, and the belief that good food should taste like home.

More than forty years later, the same family is still behind the counter. The falafel is still hand-ground each morning, the meats still marinated overnight, the hummus still whipped fresh. Generations of Angelenos have grown up on these plates — and we're proud to still be serving them, one honest sandwich at a time.
